Jazz Audition Requirement
Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Guitar, Piano, Bass, Drumset
1. Technique: Applicant must prepare to play 2 octaves scales & arpeggios (ascending and descending) in swing feel with eighth note, with metronome clicking on beats 2 and 4 at no slower than 60 bpm, in all keys
Scales: Major, Harmonic, Jazz Melodic, Natural Minor, and Blues
Arpeggios: Major7th, Dominant 7th, and Minor 7th
2. Pieces: Choose one piece from the following list
- Au Privave by Charlie Parker
- Bloomdido by Charlie Parker
- In A Mellow Tone by Duke Ellington
- Just Friend by John Klenner
- Perdido by Juan Tizol
- There’ll Never Be Another You by Harry Warren, Mack Gordon
- Sandu by Clifford Brown
- Satin Doll by Billy Strayhorn, Duke Ellington
- Take The “A” Train by Billy Strayhorn
The performance must consist of:
• Head in 1 chorus
• Solo improvisation (or trades for drums) at least 2 choruses (at least 5 choruses on Blues pieces)
• Accompaniment at least 1 choruses (in case of guitar, piano, bass, and drums)
• Head out 1 chorus
* The chosen piece will be played with accompaniment (must be prepared by the applicant) or with a good quality backing track
3. Sight Reading: Applicant has to read and perform properly regarding style, dynamic, etc with appropriate tempo along with a metronome on beats 2 and 4
*** Note: Applicant must play everything from memory
For Video Recorded Audition (International Only):
The recordings must be divided into 3 separated files, (based on all the requirements above) including;
File no. 1 – Piece: Applicant will select category A, B, or C then record VDO of you performing all 3 songs in the selected category

* All transposing instruments (Alto, Tenor, Trumpet, etc) must play all given keys without transposing

– Tenor Saxophone: Take the “A” Train (Brandford Marsalis)
– Piano: From “Danceland” (Earl ‘Bud’ Powell)
– Guitar: Billie’s Bounce (Wes Montgomery)
– Bass: Exactly Like You
– Drums: Excerpt from Art Blakey’s solo style
For each of the above files, each video recording should be of good quality and taken in one take without any editing. Each file should be named to include [applicant’s name and last name + File no.]. The applicant’s face and fingers must be visible at all times.

Thailand International Music Examination: TIME
1. How to apply with the TIME score
In order to study here, prospectus students should obtain a required result of TIME. The applicant will need to apply for TIME for Thai Music theory, Music Theory, and Aural training. Requirement will depend on the major areas of application.
If the applicant did not pass the TIME (<60%), but qualify for other areas, the applicant will be admitted to the college under condition and will be placed in the music foundation course as indicated in the program curriculum. However, applicant is allowed to re-take TIME and if the result is more than 60%, the applicant can submit the result for an update score (entering the first semester, until 30 April 2025 or entering the second semester, until 30 September 2025).
