Brass and Percussion
Recommendations from department
All brass and percussion applicants are required to audition in person on a scheduled audition date at Mahidol University.
International applicants who face significant challenges traveling to Thailand may request permission to submit a pre-screening video audition. To do so, contact Mr. Alongkorn Laosaichuea, Chair of the Brass and Percussion Department, at alongkorn.lao@mahidol.ac.th. In your request, please include your reasons for wishing to submit a pre-screening video. If the request is approved, detailed guidelines for recording and submission will be provided.
Please note that applicants who submit a pre-screening video may still be invited to attend an in-person audition at a later date.
Choosing a university is an important decision, and we strongly encourage you to visit our campus, meet the faculty, and speak with current students. This will help you determine whether Mahidol is the right fit for you. A live audition also allows us to get a clearer sense of your strengths as a candidate. That’s why applicants who come to Mahidol for an in-person audition not only gain the most meaningful experience but also give themselves the best chance of success as a Mahidol student.
An in-person audition has some important advantages:
· Stronger Personal Connection: Face-to-face interaction with faculty and staff helps build rapport and allows you to leave a more memorable impression.
· Immediate Feedback & Interaction: Faculty may offer brief feedback or ask follow-up questions, which isn’t possible in recorded auditions.
· Experience the Environment: Visiting the campus allows you to feel the atmosphere, explore the facilities (like practice rooms, concert halls), and picture your daily life here at Mahidol.
· Network Building: You can start forming relationships with fellow applicants and current students, which helps ease the transition if you’re accepted.
· Audition Day Experience: Going through the audition process in a live setting can better prepare you for future professional auditions and performances.
