Chinnawat Themkumkwun wins 2nd prize at SIGF2016

On December 3 , 2016, Chinnawat Themkumkwun, Year 4 guitar student of Dr. Paul Cesarczyk, Chair of the Classical Guitar Department at Mahidol University’s College of Music, won the 2nd prize at the 2016 Singapore International Guitar Festival & Competition (SIGF). The festival and competition took place at the RELC International Hotel Auditorium, Singapore. SIGF is one of the largest and most important major classical guitar events in Asia. Past winners of the competition are some of the most recognized young classical guitarists in the world today.

The festival took place between November 28 – December 3, over three rounds and featured high level competitors from many nationalities. The result of the competition was as follows:
1st Prize: Marko Topchii (Ukraine)
2nd Prize: Chinnawat Themkumkwun (Thailand)
3rd Prize: Feng Zong Yao (China)
Finalists : Jeffrey Cheah (Australia), Ciaran Edwards-McKeown (Australia), Gul Ru Chang (China)

Chinnawat received 1000 USD in cash, a handmade special model guitar by Filipe Conde (Spain) valued at 3500 Euro, 1 year supply strings from Savarez, Strings and accessories by D’addario, a trophy and diploma.
