Regarding the incident where a staff member of the College of Music, Mahidol University, was assaulted, which has become widely known in the public news, the College of Music would like to summarize the facts of the incident as follows:
On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, between approximately 13:30-14:00 hours, an incident occurred involving an international man, the husband of one of our female international students currently studying for a master’s degree at the College of Music, Mahidol University. This man is not a student or otherwise connected with the College. He assaulted a staff member who was performing their duties in the office of the MACM Hall at the College of Music, Mahidol University. The foreign man intruded into the office, which is government property, and used force to assault the college staff. He exhibited violent behavior with the intent to harm and destroy government property, resulting in injuries to the staff member, who is a female and a head of the department at the College.
Another staff member urgently took the victim to the hospital. The medical examination revealed abrasions and bruises on the head, face, shoulder, elbow, arm, fingers, and knee. An X-ray of the finger showed a dislocated left little finger, which required realignment and splinting. A brain CT scan showed no fractures, but the patient was advised to monitor for symptoms. The injuries are expected to take one month to heal without complications. Currently, the staff member is recuperating at home.
The College of Music filed a legal complaint against the perpetrator on the same day of the incident. The case is currently under police investigation. The College of Music has also issued measures to ban this international man from entering the college premises and has coordinated with Mahidol University to provide psychological counseling for the victim.
The College of Music has appointed a fact-finding committee to address the issue based on equality and fairness.
