February 14, 2025 – 2:00 PM – Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn presided over the Royal Music Performance and the opening ceremony of the Centennial Celebration of the Royal Coronation Exhibition and the 3rd Musicology Conference on the topic “King Prajadhipok and His Contributions to Music and Performing Arts.” The event take place at Prince Mahidol Hall, Mahidol University, with Prof. Dr.Piyamitr Sritara, President of Mahidol University, along with university executives, faculty members, scholars, and distinguished guests in attendance.
On this occasion, Her Royal Highness graciously posed for photographs with recipients of the Commemorative Medal and delivered a brief royal address, expressing appreciation for efforts in education, Thai cultural preservation, and fostering collaboration between institutions to uphold the nation’s musical and performing arts heritage.
Following this, Her Royal Highness performed a Thai classical music piece, “Ratri Pradap Dao” (Night Bedecked With Star), on the saw duang (Thai two-stringed fiddle) alongside Mahidol University alumni musicians. This piece was composed by King Prajadhipok in 1929, adapted from the traditional Mon melody “Mon Du Dao.” The performance was further enriched by the participation of National Artists, Dr. Sirichaicharn Fachamroon and Kru Peep Konglaithong, bringing immense joy and admiration to all attendees.
The College of Music, Mahidol University invites scholars and enthusiasts to attend the 3rd Musicology Conference, themed “Music and Performing Arts in the Reign of King Prajadhipok,” taking place on February 15–16, 2025, at the Southeast Asia Music Museum Building, College of Music, Mahidol University.
