Career Highlights

NAWEEN NOPPAKUN is an audiovisual artisan with a background in music and sound design.

During his undergraduate studies at College of Music, Mahidol University, Naween was already well recognized as a founding member of Sweet Mullet – one of the most influential Thai rock bands in 2000s – with sensational hit single “Tob ( 2004 )” in which he co-wrote.

After working briefly on sound design for visual media and music composition, he fell in love with cinema and switched his artistic approach to filmmaking. His first two short films – When Her Light is Extinguished ( 2012 ) and We Love Me ( 2017 ) – have won international awards in different continents and screened at film and video art festivals all over the world.

Supported by The Ministry of Culture, his third short – Crazy Lotus ( 2024 ) – was selected for development in the Berlinale Short Form Station at the prestigious 70th Berlin International Film festival ( 2020 )and has received the Momo Distribution Grant 2023 for the emerging Southeast Asian filmmakers. The film is distributed by Vidéographe from Montréal and had its world premiere at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2024 where it won the Tiger Short Award.

Having returned to his first passion, Naween is currently a music and visual producer for The Richman Toy – one of the most prominent bands in Thailand. He aims to push the boundary of what a music producer could do for Thai music industry by using all talents he possesses.
