Career Highlights

Dr Organ Prawang is currently working as a singing teacher and lecturer at Mahidol University. She recently completed her doctorate in Voice Performance at Bangor University, North Wales. This was the culmination of her academic studies, following on from a bachelor’s degree in Performance Voice from College of Music, Mahidol University, Thailand and being the first Thai singer who passed the admission exam for the master’s degree in Music and Drama (Opera) in Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Wien, Vienna. Widely recognised as one of the top vocal music schools in the world, she graduated with distinction. She was proud to receive a full scholarship for her master’s and doctoral degrees through the Office of Higher Education’s Commission in Thailand.

Organ was the winner for best research in the Art category at the Anglo-Thai Education Awards 2019, London and she also won a popular award for the abstract competition Samaggi Samagom 2020, London. She has presented her research topic several times in different countries such as Russia and the United Kingdom.

Organ received several prizes from all over the world. She was the 2nd Prize Winner in the 7th Osaka International Music Competition (Japan, 2007) while the 1st prize was not awarded in that year. She later won again the next year in the same competition as a 3rd Prize winner. She was also the recipient of the 1st Golden Prize Winner in the Set trade Music Competition, Thailand in 2008. Following on from this a year later, Organ was the 1st Prize Winner in the Thai-Chinese Vocal Competition. After winning the 2nd Prize in The Barry Alexander International Competition in New York, the United States in 2010, she received a full nine-month scholarship to study in the University of Music in Vienna The OEAD (Österreichische Austauschdienst – Austrian Student Exchange Office), Austria in 2015.

Organ’s opera roles have included Message of Hope (L’Orfeo), Mother (Hansel and Gretel), Madam Herz (Der Schauspieldirektor), Violetta (La Traviata), Philidel (King Arthur), Hannah (The Merry Widow), Dorabella (Cosi Fan Tutte), The First and Second Damen (Die Zauberflöte), Stella (The Tales of Hoffmann), Lauretta (Gianni Schicchi), Michaela (Carmen), Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), Hata (The Bartered Bride), Berlinda (Dido & Aeneas), Serpina (La Serva Padrona) and Gretel (Hansel and Gretel).
