Career Highlights
Dr. Natee Chiengchana is an Assistant Professor and Chair of the Music Therapy Department at the College of Music, Mahidol University. He holds a B.Ed. in Music Education and an M.Ed. in Educational Research from Chulalongkorn University, Thailand; a Master of Music Therapy from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC), Spain; a Ph.D. in Music Education with an emphasis on Music Therapy from Mahidol University; as well as a B.A. in Guidance and Psychological Counseling from Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University, Thailand.
He completed music therapy internships at Residència i Centre de Dia Alchemika (Barcelona), the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol (Barcelona), and Siriraj Palliative Care Center (Thailand). He also underwent training in Neurologic Music Therapy at the Academy of Neurologic Music Therapy and in inclusive education at the University of Northern Colorado, USA.
Prior to joining the College of Music in 2022, Dr. Natee served as Associate Dean and Program Director of the M.Ed. in Education for Persons with Special Needs (2020–2022), as well as Director of the Deaf Studies Department (2017–2020) at Ratchasuda College, Mahidol University. Since 2014, he has also been a music therapy thesis supervisor and instructor at the College of Music, Mahidol University.
His clinical experience covers diverse populations across all ages, including premature infants; children with autism, ADHD, and developmental delays; young adults with hearing loss; older adults with neurological disorders and dementia; palliative care patients and families; and emergency department patients and families.
Dr. Natee’s primary research interests focus on music therapy for children with autism and developmental delays, as well as inclusive music therapy within school settings. He also investigates the use of music therapy to alleviate pain and anxiety in medical contexts, alongside neurologic music therapy interventions to support adults with neurological disorders.
