Poulenc’s La voix humaine is a profoundly moving one-act opera that delves into the emotional intricacies of a woman’s desperate telephone conversation with her former lover. It paints a vivid picture of love, loss, and the inherent vulnerability of human beings. Set entirely within the confines of her apartment, this opera masterfully encapsulates a spectrum of emotions, from heartbreak and yearning to anger and ultimate acceptance, as the woman grapples with the last moments of her fractured relationship. To kick off the program, we invite you to immerse yourself in the charming and lively dance movements of Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite.
