Student Leadership Mission Statement To serve, represent and lead the student body.
Student Leadership Vision Statement
YAMP will have a united student body that understands its responsibilities to be excellent musicians, good citizens and positively impact the community. At the beginning of M6 a Student Leadership takes place over a full weekend for students to learn about leadership, collective responsibility and serving.
Student Council
Students of YAMP have the opportunity to run for Student Council President. Guidelines are laid down in the Student Council handbook. The YAMP Student Council counsellor is the Principal.\r\n\r\nThe YAMP Student Council President is elected following a secret ballot of all students. The President then selects the Student Council Executive, which made up of:
- The President.
- Vice President (s).
- Secretary.
- Head of Activities.
- Treasuer.
- Public Relations.
The main Student Council events are : Annual YAMP Concert Series, Activity Day, Prom dinner, Prom Party, Student Shop. The Student Council meets weekly with the Principal.
Class Leaders
Every Homeroom has a class leader and an assistant. The class leaders role is to help take care of every member of the class and assist teachers. Class leaders help to encourage and remind students to follow the Code of Conduct. Class leaders are elected by their peers, but must critera laid down by the Deputy Principal for Student Management.
All students as leaders
In line with one our Goals all students are given opportunities and experiences to learn that leadership is also about leading yourself to volunteer and give back to the community.
Boarding Committee
Student leaders sit on the Boarding Committee with boarding faculty to help develop and solve problems together.
Catering Committee
Student leaders sit on the Boarding Committee with staff and faculty to help develop and solve problems together.
