YAMP International online auditions
All international oversea applicants must upload a non-edited, continuous playing of all required pieces/songs on YouTube and send your link with your application. Do not make separate tracks for each movement or piece. The entire audition should be recorded/filmed as one track. The following instruments are especially sought: Cello, Double bass, Oboe, Bassoon, French horn

Guitar
- TWO contrasting movements from easy to intermediate repertoire: Bach, VillaLobos, Brouwer, Sor, Carulli, Carcassi, Lauro, Mertz, Aguado, Diabelli, Giuliani, Barrios etc.
Piano
- Technique (Scale and Arpeggio)
Scales of all major, harmonic minor and melodic minor keys in 4 octaves, hands together in parallel motion, 4 pulses per quarter note equal to M.M. 88, followed by the cadence of the same key as the scale. (See the example 1, 2)
Example 1 Cadence in C major key: I – IV – I64 – V7 - I
Example 2 Scale followed by the Cadence in the key of C major (or C major key?).
- Arpeggios of all major and minor keys in 4 octaves, hands together in parallel motion, 4 notes to M.M. 72, followed by the cadence of the same key as the arpeggio. (Example 3)

*Note: Scales and arpeggios with the cadence must be performed by memory.
- Pieces
Three pieces of the following items will be required to perform.
- One Study from Carl Czerny, Stephen Heller, Johann Baptist Cramer, Frederic Chopin, Felix Mendelssohn or Franz Liszt
- One solo piece from Baroque or Classical period (Choose one movement from multi-movement work)
- One solo piece from Romantic or 20th century period
Note
- All pieces must be performed by memory. Do not take repeats.
- All selected repertoires should represent a variety of musical styles as well as demonstrate candidate’s skill in both technical and musical abilities. The level of difficulty of the repertoire selection will be taken into consideration of final audition result by audition committee*.
- If the candidate must take more than one round of audition, at least one piece (or more pieces) needs to be changed.
- Sight-reading
A short piece in Simple Time Signature, in major or minor key no more than 3 sharps or 3 flats.
*The examiner should participate YAMP Open House at least once for understanding the quality of playing and the level of difficulty should be selected.
**Live auditions are preferred for overseas applicants. For applicants who are unable to audition live, please send a DVD of non-edited, continuous playing of all required pieces OR upload on YouTube and send your link with your application. Do not make separate tracks for each movement or piece. The entire audition should be recorded/filmed as one track. Overseas candidates are exempt from playing scales and sight-reading.
Voice (all songs must be performed by memory)
- ONE classical selection; an aria or art song not in English
- TWO songs of your own choices (Classical or musical theater)

Divided in 3 parts, which are Repertoire, Transcription and Scales
1. Repertoire
Applicant chooses one from following swing Jazz Standard repertoire

F Blues: Bag’s Groove
Bb Blues: Blues Monk
C Blues: C Jam Blues
Applicant must do four chorus soloing.
*Piano and Guitar do 1 more chorus for comping **Drum set must have trading four
2. Transcription
Applicant chooses one from provided transcriptions, plays with
metronome on beat 2 and 4 with tempo 60bpm. *Drum set and Bass must do both transcription and etude
