Physics of Sound
The aim of the physics of sound unit is to give students a basic understanding of how sound works in the real world, and demonstrate how sound is affected and can be manipulated by changing various aspects of a physical object. At Mathayom 5 students will be given a basic introduction to sound. This unit covers how sound travels, how it it is measured, and how mathematical formulae can be used to design musical instruments, auditory devices and even buildings.
Students will be taught through experimentation and practical assignments, requiring them to put acoustic sound theories to the test for themselves. This gives the student hands on experience and understanding in how sound applies to their individual instrument, and how sound affects them as human beings on a psycho-acoustic level.
