Competition Results

The Final Stage of the 18th Osaka International Music Competition was held in September 30-October 9, 2017 at Muramatsu Recital Hall Shin-Osaka, Sumiyoshi Kumin Center, Hyogo Performing Arts Center, Uhara Hall, and Takatsuki Gendai Gekijo in Osaka and Hyogo Prefectures, Japan.

Among 43 entries advanced to the final round out of 100 entries in the Bangkok Regional Round, 53 contestants in 38 entries actually participated into the finals, which were highly competitive. The following finalists from Thailand successfully won prizes.

Pariyachart Sitthindamrongkarn (College of Music, Mahidol University, Pre-College Program, Grade 12) – Third Prize (no first prize in the category) in Vocal Music Age-H Category

Chanakan Amarangkun (College of Music, Mahidol University, Pre-College Program, Grade 11) – Espoir Prize (equivalent to fourth prize) in Vocal Music Age-H Category

Xue Jing Han (Bangkok Thonburi University, PhD. program) – Espoir Prize in Vocal Music Opera Course Age-G Category

Shuwan Zhang (Saint Joseph Convent School, Grade 2) – Third Prize in Piano Age-E1 Category

Brass Quintet: Nitiphum Bamrungbanthum, trumpet (College of Music, Mahidol University, Year 3); Suchol Nintawong, trumpet (College of Music, Mahidol University, Year 3); Khanin Phruekpiti, horn (Silpakorn University, Year 2); Piyawat Wannasuk, trombone (College of Music, Mahidol University, Year 2); and Kitsapong Pirom, tuba (College of Music, Mahidol University, Year 3) – Second Prize (the highest prize) in Ensemble Category

String Quartet: Chanya Charoensook, violin (College of Music, Mahidol University, Year 2); Naphatipa Preechanon, violin (College of Music, Mahidol University, Year 1); Teesin Puriwatthanapong, viola (College of Music, Mahidol University, Year 2); and Guntiga Comenaphatt, cello (graduated from College of Music, Mahidol University) – Espoir Prize in Ensemble Category
