Message from TICF Dean and Artistic Director, Dr. Narong Prangcharoen
In 2005, The Thailand International Composition Festival (TICF) was only a small festival in Thailand about which few people know. At the moment, TICF has grown tremendously in a very short time. TICF 2019 will be one of the historic and most exciting years. We've expanded our Chamber Concert Series to magnificent Wind Ensemble and Symphony Orchestra concerts along with many fantastic Chamber Music including Electro-Acoustic Music concerts.
With my vision to create the collaboration among composers in Southeast Asia and currently to expand it Globally, TICF serves as the meeting point for composers to get to know each other, exchange to broaden their ideas, discuss the direction of music in our region, and more. On top of that mission, I have invited many world-class composers to participate in and support the festival to guide the music in Southeast Asia in the right direction. Therefore, we can develop our music society to be stronger and increase a number of audiences for the new music. Having the guest Master Composers, for me, it is both honor and thrill to meet the living legends and active composers in our time. This year we have a great honor to host excellent composers such as Chinary Ung, Deqing Wen, and Melinda Wagner . This will create a powerful impact to the society that will live long in memory. Along with the collaboration with College of Music, Mahidol University, one of the most wonderful music institutes not only in Asia but in the World, will make TICF 2019 one of the best festivals ever.
On behalf of College of Music, Mahidol University, I am delighted to welcome all of you to the Thailand International Composition Festival 2019. I would like to express my deep appreciation for this friendship and hope all of our guest has a present stay with us in Thailand, in addition to experience Thailand's beautiful scenery and friendly people.
