MS Students won prizes in the 18th Osaka International Music Competition

College of Music Students won prizes in the 18th Osaka International Music Competition held on September 30-October 9, 2017 at Uhara Hall in Hyogo and Sumiyoshi Kumin Center in Osaka, Japan.

Pariyachart Sitthindamrongkarn (Pre-College M6) and Chanakan Amarangkun (Pre-College M5) received Third Prize (no first prize awarded) and Espoir Prize (equivalent to fourth prize) respectively in Vocal Music Age-H Category. Both of them are students of Professor Nancy Tsui Ping Wei.

A brass quintet: Nitiphum Bamrungbanthum, trumpet (Year 3); Suchol Nintawong, trumpet (Year 3); Khanin Phruekpiti, horn (Year 2); Piyawat Wannasuk, trombone (Year2); and Kitsapong Pirom, tuba (Year 3) won Second Prize (highest awarded) in Ensemble Category. They are students of Dr. Joseph Bowman, Dr. Daren Robbins, and Prof. Kitti Sawetkittikul.

Two other student groups of the College of Music shared Espoir Prize in the same category. Those are a string quartet (students of Prof. Stefanie Waegner): Chanya Charoensook, violin (Year 2); Naphatipa Preechanon, violin (Year 1); Teesin Puriwatthanapong, viola (Year 2); Guntiga Comenaphatt, cello (alumnus); and a horn quintet (students of Dr. Daren Robbins): Tanupol Chomsamut (Year 1); Yuttapol Kangwansurakrai (Year 3); Tanakrit Limrattanasaran (alumnus); Natthapat Kirawiroj (alumnus of Princess Galyani Vadthana Institute of Music); and Nopchanok Loetwaleerat (Year 1 of Chulalongkorn University).
