Vienna All Stars Chamber Music Competition for String Quartets and Piano Trios/ Piano Quartet

In November 2015 the College of Music, Mahidol University held the first edition of a new internal competition:

The “Vienna All Stars Chamber Music Competition”.
It was divided into two categories:
Category 1, String Quartet
Category 2, Piano Trio/ Piano Quartet
Participating ensembles were required to perform two movements from a work by Haydn, Mozart or Beethoven, as well as a free-choice encore piece.
The jury consisted of five faculty members of the College of Music. Mahidol Unversity:

The competition was open to all string players currently studying at the College of Music in any of the programmes: Pre-College, Undergraduate, Master. Ten ensembles entered and the jury had the pleasure to listen to masterworks by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven, as well as encore pieces ranging in style from Tango and Jazz via Irish Folk and Polkas to Romantic Miniatures.
The winning ensembles are:
Category 1: Omkow Quartet
Category 2: Tour de Trio
Special Prize for the Pre-College-only ensemble: Caviar Quartet
The Prize Winners’ Concert on March 6, 2016 at 5.00 pm will feature these three winning ensembles. They will perform works by Haydn, beethoven, Strauss, Faure and Piazzolla.
