In collaboration with the Woodwind and Brass faculty members, the Wind Orchestra will present a side-by-side concert of teachers and students, featuring the greatests of wind repertoire written by giant composers. Stravinsky’s Symphonies of Wind Instruments (1947) is the most unique work in the entire oeuvre of the composer. Originally written in memory of Claude Debussy, the music is austere, cold, and capriciously shifted between different characters, providing you with a unique listening experience. The highlights of the program — no need for much explanation — are selections from Mozart’s grand and famous serenade “Gran Partita”, and the all-time favorite Dvořák’s Serenade in D minor.
