The College of Music’s Brass and Percussion Department is the largest and most comprehensive department of its kind in Southeast Asia. It is home to seven full-time faculty, four part-time faculty, and over 100 students ranging from Pre-College through Doctoral level.
The faculty of the Brass and Percussion Department are active in a wide variety of professional activities but they all hold teaching to be their top priority. They feel strongly that music students should have full access to their teachers and they accordingly work exclusively at the College of Music. Many of the faculty have achieved international recognition through their publications, regular appearances at international conferences, and their student’s track record of success. The Brass and Percussion Department’s faculty are active as performers as well as teachers. Their performance credentials include positions in the Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra, performances at international conferences, and frequent recital appearances in chamber music and solo settings.
Mahidol’s brass and percussion students are trained to become leaders in Southeast Asia’s emerging classical music scene and have enjoyed exceptional success. They hold positions in Bangkok’s semi-professional training orchestras, have won competitions worldwide, and have been appointed to professional performing and teaching positions throughout Southeast Asia.
