Career Highlight

Viskamol Chaiwanichsiri was born in Bangkok, Thailand on 29 June 1995. He is the winner of Call for Score (Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music Youth Orchestra, 2018), Thailand Royal Student Award (2017), Young Thai Artist Award (2016) from his varied music contribution as composer, conductor and music educator.

Viskamol has written for orchestra, chamber ensemble, solo instrument and—majority— for wind ensemble. His music has been performed in Asia, America, and Europe by various ensembles including Sensei’s March (Prague, Czech by Suranaree Girls Wind Symphony); Scherzo (Croatia by Siam Saxophone Quartet); Chao Phraya March (United States by Thompson High School Wind Ensemble); Shadow (Strasbourg, France by Salaya Saxophone Ensemble).

Viskamol has appeared as a guest conductor with the Yala City Municipality Youth Orchestra (2016–present), Saint Gabriel’s College Symphonic Band (2019), Siam Huqin Orchestra (2019) and Tacet(i) Contemporary Ensemble (2017). During his undergraduate and graduate studies, he conducted Mahidol Wind Orchestra, Mahidol Symphonic Band, Mahidol Symphony Orchestra and various chamber ensembles.

Viskamol began his music studies at a young age. He received piano lessons from Sukanya Techawaro and was a member of Udomsuksa School Marching Band (Panlop Jeepsuwan and Bundit Chuenmaiwai, band director). He also studied music theory and composition with Dr. Woraket Tagosa. He completed his bachelor’s degree (composition) and master’s degree (conducting) at the College of Music, Mahidol University where his primary teacher in composition was Valeriy Rizayev and conducting with Dr. Thanapol Setabrahmana and Dr. Pamornpan Komolpamorn.

Viskamol is the founder and director of We Wind Community Orchestra (community wind orchestra based in Bangkok). He is currently the choir director (for Pre-College Choir (YAMP Choir)) at the College of Music, Mahidol University and coordinator/instructor of the Affiliated School Section of College of Music, Mahidol University.
