From 22-24 November, 2018 the College of Music participated in the European “MUSIQUE” Quality Development Process for the Bachelor of Music Program. The MUSIQUE process is a certified international quality assurance process that was first created out of the Association of European Conservatories.
During the three day review visit, the 5 person team met with many College stakeholders, including university and College administration, faculty, students, alumni, and music employers. They toured the College, observed courses, and did an extensive investigation of the BM program. The preliminary results of the visit were communicated to the College administration team this past Saturday and were incredibly positive – with comments emphasizing many “world class” strengths of the program. When the final review is finished, there is a good chance the BM Program will achieve “Accreditation” status, which will be confirmed in coming months.
Members of the Review team who joined for this process included, Prof. Jeffrey Sharkey (Principal of Royal Conservatoire of Scotland), Prof. Mist Thorkelsdottir (Expert/Consultant in Music Education, International Relations Director at University of Southern California), Prof. Jan-Gerd Kruger (Jazz/International Relations, Prince Claus Conservatoire, The Netherlands), Prof. Joan-Albert Serra (Music and Arts Management and Educational Advisor, Barcelona, Spain), and Ms. Weibke Rademacher (Ph.D. student in Musicology from the University of Cologne, Germany).
