Program Introduction

The Master of Arts program in Music with the concentrations in Musicology and Music Education aims to produce music researchers, music scholars, music teachers, and academic seminar organizers who understand the process of gaining wisdom.

The Master of Arts program in Music with the concentration in Music Business is designed to produce professionals in career management and development in Music Business.

The Master of Arts program with the concentration in Music Therapy is designed to produce professionals who work as practitioners and researchers in the field of Music Therapy.

All majors in the MA program use the following program structure:

Note: For students who do not pass the required entrance exams, the general basic courses will be assigned, and are taken for zero credit.

Thesis and Thematic Paper

Thesis – In a Master’s Thesis a student has conducted standard research, which presents additional or new knowledge / results.

Thematic Paper – In a Master’s Thematic Paper, a student has conducted an independent study, as designated / assigned. The information comes from the original works of the authors of the literature that the student has reviewed. In a thematic paper, the student summarizes and compiles his / her critical opinions, from the literature review of the selected topic.

Work-Study Trip

All students will attend an international academic work-study trip to a conference or other major event in their area of study.

Entrance Qualifications

Students must have an undergraduate degree or equivalent in music (or are in the final semester of study) from an accredited university and have a GPA of not less than 2.75

Admissions Requirements

  • Written exam in the major of study
  • Audition (Music Therapy major only)
  • English Proficiency (TOEFL, etc.)

IELTS not less than 5 or
TOEFL-IBT not less than 54 or
TOEFL-ITP not less than 480 or
MU GRAD TEST not less than 60
