Mahidol guitar student wins the 4th prize at GFA 2015

On June 28, 2015, Thanapot Lerttham, an M.6 guitar student of Dr. Paul Cesarczyk, Chair of the Classical Guitar Department at Mahidol University’s College of Music,  won the 4th Prize in the Senior Category (open to contestants from 14-18 years old) of the Youth Competition at the Guitar Foundation of America Festival and Competition 2015 or GFA 2015.
Thanapot performed works by J.K. Mertz, L. Legnani and Francis Kleynjans. He received a cash award, string sets by Augustine, D’Addario and Savarez, as well as gift certificates.
GFA 2015, also known as “the Olympics of classic guitar”, took place in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, United States from June 23-29. It is the largest and most prestigious international guitar festival during the year, attracting a global audience and an international roster of performers, scholars, and music vendors. College of Music alumnus Ekachai Jaerakul was internationally recognized after becoming the first Asian to win first prize in the Concert Artist category in last year’s festival.
