“A symphony must be like the world,” Mahler said. “It must embrace everything.” Mahler’s Second, the “Resurrection” Symphony, is a major choral work, popular in his lifetime, which grandly explores the themes of life and death. Guest Conductor Alfonso Scarano conducts the ensemble along with the Mahidol University Choir, Korean soprano Sooyeon Kim and Czech mezzo-soprano Barbora Polášková in this gripping and all-encompassing tour de force.
