~ Discovering Performer’s Mental, Emotional, and Physical Activities Through a Scientific Lens~
Have you ever wondered why particular imagery “turns you on” when you act or play your instrument? Have you experienced a certain physical movement triggering strong emotions and you were in awe, not knowing why? If so, this workshop is for you! The workshop/lecture conducted by a performing artist, Haruna Tsuchiya, and Dr. Emiko Minakuchi (Ph.D., RN, PHN), Research Associate at Faculty of Nursing, Tokyo Ariake University of Medical and Health Sciences in Japan, will investigate performer’s emotional and mental activities through a scientific lens. Dr. Minakuchi has been researching the influences of mental stress on our body systems utilizing a device called finger plethysmography, while Ms. Tsuchiya has been researching extended voice and Grotowski’s psychophysical acting.
