An exploration of the shared repratoire of Jazz and Musical theater and the different stylistic approaches, as well as how to accompany the singer in each style, and blending the genres. Class will feature Aj. Laura Brunner of The Musical Theater Dept. and visiting artist New York jazz pianist Paul Odeh.
About the Visiting Artist:
Paul Odeh has worked with such great artists as Ron Carter, Roy Hargrove, George Coleman, Curtis Lundy, and Wycleff Gorden. Past performances include The Newport Jazz Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, and tours of Asia and South America. He is the resident pianist for The Artie Shaw Big Band and teaches for Jazz At Lincoln Center, while continuing to play some of the top venues in New York City.
