3 Piano Generations is a musical project that brings on stage three great piano masters, each belonging to a different generation of musicians and contributing to the show with his/her own experience and artistry. Cesare Picco, Rita Marcotulli and Alberto Pizzo will leave you shocked by beauty in a unique performance with three pianos on stage.
Cesare Picco is an Italian piano improviser, composer and clavichordist, who has worked with distinguished International artists such as Naseer Shamma and Markus Stockhausen and with Italian artists such as Andrea Bocelli and Carlo Fava. Thanks to his creations and improvisations works, he had the chance to perform at Italy’s most important festivals and worldwide. He can be considered a versatile artist as far as – besides writing music for solos, chamber music ensembles and orchestra – he is also author of ballets, operas, music for theater and special projects.
Rita Marcotulli debuts in the jazz scene during the 70ies, when she is still very young (she is born in 1959), but gets soon to play with jazz Masters such as Chet Baker, Enrico Rava and Pat Metheny. She has recently received important recognitions for her works in the cinema too, receiving many official prizes and being the first woman ever to be awarded with the David di Donatello for the “Best Musician” category (2011), thanks to her beautiful compositions for “Basilicata Coast to Coast”.
Alberto Pizzo is the youngest pianist among the three, but has reached important achievements too: among others, he is in fact Official Artist Yamaha, the most prestigious piano brand in the world. Alberto Pizzo has performed many international shows around the world, from New York to Tokyo, and has played duets with artists of the caliber of Chick Corea. Last year he signed with the label Sony Classical and has released the album Memories, entirely recorded at the Abbey Road Studios.
