General Prem Chairs the Fundraising Gala Concert for the “Prem Auditorium” in Songkhla

General Prem Tinsulanonda, President of HM the King’s Privy Council chaired the ”Prem Auditorium in Songkhla Fundraising Concert“ to raise support for the construction of the auditorium. The concert was held on 20th April 2013 from 7.00 to 9.00 pm at the Athénée Crystal Hall, Level 03, Athénée Tower, Plaza Athénée Bangkok.
 
The “Prem Auditorium” will become a new landmark in Southern Thailand as it‘s architectural concept was to create one of the best acoustical venues in southern Thailand, designed by the well known architect Mr.Chatree Ladalalitsakun. The 400 seat flexible hall for the music auditorium will be located in General Prem Tinsulanonda Historical Park Songkhla and will feature simple styles that are modern and powerful, relating to expressions of the personality of General Prem Tinsulanonda, President of the Privy Council.
 
The Thailand Philharmonic Orchestra (TPO) under the patronage of the Royal Thai Government and a part of the College of Music, Mahidol University presented the concert. Soloists for the concert were Mr. Hitoshi Miyashita, a 2nd year guitar student in the Bachelor of Music program from College of Music, Mahidol University,  who performed the Tedesco Guitar Concerto No.1; and  Ms. Kwanchanok Pongpairoj, a 4th year piano student in the Bachelor of Music program from College of Music, Mahidol University, who performed the Grieg Piano Concerto. Yala City Municipality Youth Orchestra (YMO) joined the concert to perform the Southern songs. The highlight of the evening was when General Prem Tinsulanonda sang his compositions, Khed Fan (Just Dream) and ”Somewhere“  with playing the piano to express his gratitude to the guests.
 
Ajarn Suchart Wongthong presented his watercolor painting which will be displayed at the Prem Auditorium and Ajarn Dinhing Rakpongasoke also presented his painting to be displayed at the Reception Room of the Prem Auditorium in Songkhla.
